Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at East Carolina University where we educate YOU to join the next generation of criminal justice leaders! The Department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice, a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education, and minors in Criminal Justice, Criminal Law and Legal Process, and Forensic Science. Our academic programs prepare you for careers in criminal justice professions, advanced study or, if you are a working professional, advancement in your career. Courses are taught by award-winning faculty with teaching and research expertise in law enforcement, forensic science, homeland security, criminology, juvenile delinquency, law, corrections, organized crime, transnational crime, terrorism, and more.

We provide extraordinary learning and leadership opportunities that enable you to participate in the national criminal justice honor society, student organizations, field experience, international study abroad, annual job/career fair, and faculty-student research programs. Welcome to the Spring 2026 Semester!

  • March 8 – 15, Sunday-Sunday – Spring Break — Classes resume at 8:00 am Monday, March 16.
  • March 16 – 20, Monday-Friday – Advising for Summer Sessions and Fall Semester 2026
  • March 26, Thursday – Last day for undergraduate and graduate students to withdraw from term-length courses or withdraw from school without grades, by 5:00 pm; block courses may be dropped only during the first 60% of their regularly scheduled class meetings.
  • March 27, Friday – Early registration for special populations begins at 1:00 pm.
  • March 30, Monday – Registration for Summer Sessions and Fall Semester 2026 begins.
  • April 3 – 4, Friday-Saturday – State Holiday (no classes)
  • April 15, Wednesday -Survey of Student Opinion of Instruction (SSOI) becomes available.
  • April 16, Thursday – Last day for undergraduate students to submit work for removal of incompletes given during Fall 2025
  • April 17, Friday – Last day to submit a thesis or dissertation for Spring graduation
  • April 28, Tuesday – Last day for graduate students to submit work for removal of incompletes given during Spring Semester 2025
  • April 28, Tuesday – State holiday makeup day; classes which would have met on Friday, April 3 will meet on this day so there will be effectively the same number of Fridays and Tuesdays as every other weekday during the semester. Tuesday classes will not meet. Classes end; last day for Survey of Student Opinion of Instruction (SSOI); last day for submission of grade replacement requests.
  • April 29, Wednesday – Reading Day
  • April 30, Thursday – Final Examinations begin.
  • May 7, Thursday – Exams for Spring Semester end.
  • May 8, Friday – Commencement
