Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at East Carolina University where we educate YOU to join the next generation of criminal justice leaders! The Department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice, a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education, and minors in Criminal Justice, Criminal Law and Legal Process, and Forensic Science. Our academic programs prepare you for careers in criminal justice professions, advanced study or, if you are a working professional, advancement in your career. Courses are taught by award-winning faculty with teaching and research expertise in law enforcement, forensic science, homeland security, criminology, juvenile delinquency, law, corrections, organized crime, transnational crime, terrorism, and more.

We provide extraordinary learning and leadership opportunities that enable you to participate in the national criminal justice honor society, student organizations, field experience, international study abroad, annual job/career fair, and faculty-student research programs. You can interface with peers, dynamic faculty, and the university community while studying in a vibrant criminal justice department where we are committed to your success.

Welcome to the Summer 2026 Semester!

  • June 8, Monday – Flight Path Summer courses begin
  • June 9, Tuesday – Last day for undergraduate and graduate students to withdraw from term-length 1st session courses or withdraw from school without grades, by 5:00 pm; block courses may be dropped only during the first 60% of their regularly scheduled class meetings. Late registration and schedule adjustment period for Flight Path courses (add/drop/section changes) conclude at 5 p.m.
  • June 10, Wednesday – Census Day for Flight Path courses.
  • June 16, Tuesday – Survey of Student Opinion of Instruction (SSOI) for 1st session classes becomes available.
  • June 22, Monday – 1st session classes end; last day for 1st session Survey of Student Opinion of Instruction (SSOI); last day for submission of 1st session grade replacement requests. Last day for graduate students to submit work for removal of incompletes given during First Summer Session 2025.
  • June 23, Tuesday – Final Examinations for 1st session classes.
  • June 23 – 24, Tuesday – Wednesday – Mid-Summer Break
  • June 25, Thursday – 2nd session classes begin; schedule adjustments.
  • June 26, Friday – Last day for 2nd session registration and schedule adjustments (drop / add), by 5:00 pm. 1st session course grades due at 8:00 am.
  • June 29, Monday – Census Day for 2nd session classes (Official enrollment count taken at 5:00 pm.)
  • July 1, Wednesday – Last day for undergraduate and graduate students to withdraw from term-length 2nd session, Flight Path, and 11-week courses or withdraw from school without grades, by 5:00 pm; block courses may be dropped only during the first 60% of their regularly scheduled class meetings.
  • July 3, Friday – State Holiday (no classes)
  • July 24, Friday – Survey of Student Opinion of Instruction (SSOI) for 2nd session, Flight Path, and 11-week classes becomes available.
  • July 30, Thursday – 2nd session, Flight Path, and 11-week Classes end; last day for Survey of Student Opinion of Instruction (SSOI); last day for submission of grade replacement requests. Last day for graduate students to submit work for removal of incompletes given during 2025 2nd session and Eleven-week classes.
  • July 31, Friday – Final Examinations for 2nd session and 11-week classes.
  • August 3, Monday – 2nd session. Flight Path, and 11-week course grades due at 12 noon.
