General Information

What is Pirate Nation Gives?

ECU’s Day of Giving is called Pirate Nation Gives. It’s a 24-hour online fundraising event that brings the ECU community together to engage with and give back to the university. Alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends are encouraged to donate to the college, fund or program of their choice. This is the ninth year of Pirate Nation Gives. The date of this year’s day of giving is Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

What are our overall goals for PNG 2025?

We want to raise funds to support department activities and scholarships.

    1. Join the Circle of Justice Professionals for as little as $5 a month!
      • $5/month secures spot in the alumni Circle of Criminal Justice Professionals, a networking and giving circle that supports CJC
        1. All alumni who set up a recurring donation of $10/month during PNG on March 5 will get a department alumni sticker!
      • Use your recurring donation to support either the Criminal Justice Scholarship Pool or the department Priority Fund.
    2. Make High Impact Experiences and Departmental Priorities Possible
      • Help support specific expenses such as food for student organization meetings, moving expenses for new faculty, and activities like the annual Career Fair.
      • $50 fosters belonging and provides food for a CJC student organization meeting
      • $100 empowers student travel to present at professional conferences
      • $250 recruits the best faculty nationwide and supports their transition to ECU
    3. Support the Criminal Justice Scholarship Pool!
      • In 2025, the department awarded eleven scholarships through all its funded awards. Each year, around 250 students apply for department scholarships.
      • $500 funds a one semester scholarship through the Criminal Justice Scholarship Pool
      • $1000 funds an academic year scholarship through the Criminal Justice Scholarship Pool
