Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown

Cassandra Deck-Brown was selected to lead the Raleigh Police Department in February 2013, capping a departmental career that began shortly after she graduated from East Carolina University in 1987. She prepared herself for the opportunities and the challenges of her current position by earning a master’s degree in public administration from N.C. State University, completing the U.S. Department of Justice FBI National Executive Institute, and career development studies in various programs. Today, she leads a $105 million, 21st century law enforcement agency of more than 800 sworn and 200+ non-sworn employees and volunteers

Throughout her career, Chief Deck-Brown consistently displayed the professionalism, judgment, and integrity that are now among her hallmarks as a leader. She believes her primary responsibilities as chief of police are summarized by two words found on the badge she and every other Raleigh Police Department officer wear: serve and protect.
