Dr. William P. Bloss
Dr. William P. Bloss is Professor of Criminal Justice and Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at East Carolina University. Previously, he held academic appointments at The Citadel and University of Houston. As a former law enforcement professional, Professor Bloss served in positions as Coordinator, South Carolina Police Corps; Director, Gulf Coast (TX) regional police academy; law enforcement instructor; and law enforcement officer. He earned Ph.D., M.A., and B.S degrees in Criminal Justice and Criminology and was awarded an FDD Academic Fellowship in Terrorism Studies in Israel. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and has been named to Marquis Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who among America’s Teachers, and received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. His research focuses on transnational crime, terrorism, police practices, and privacy issues and he has written numerous academic publications including the books Under a Watchful Eye: Privacy Rights and Criminal Justice and Transnational Crime and Terrorism in a Global Context.
